We’ve been painting ducks since 2022. Our wooden duck story began at our original art café in Birmingham, where we hosted duck painting sessions before relocating to Exmouth in 2023. We brought the experience with us to Devon, where we couldn’t find anyone offering dedicated wooden duck painting sessions at the time.
Since then, wooden duck painting has become one of the experiences Arty Boat is best known for. Visitors have created everything from colourful characters and holiday keepsakes to ducks inspired by favourite people, hobbies, places and memories.

🎨 What happens in a Wooden Duck Painting session?
This is a relaxed, beginner-friendly 3-hour wooden duck painting session where you paint your own wooden duck (or choose another wooden item on the day) and take it home the same day.

- We guide you step-by-step — totally beginner friendly
- Paint simple blocks of colour or go detailed — it’s completely up to you
- We seal your finished piece in-studio so it’s ready to take home
Everyone attending must book a place so we can ensure we have space set up for all guests.
